persistence

Today’s Gospel, Mark 2:1-12, is one of many “persistence” stories in the Scriptures.

Jesus is at Capernaum.  Crowds gather to see Him.  There are  so many people that it is impossible to get near Him.  A group brings a paralytic on a mat to see Him.  Unable to get near Him, they climb  upon the roof of the house where Jesus is, remove some of the tiles and lower the man down.  Jesus eventually says to the man: “Rise, pick up your mat and walk!”

Persistence is a virtue.  Who of us is not in need of healing? We need to be persistent in prayer.  Jesus will heal us, perhaps not in the manner that we might like, but Jesus will heal us in the way that is ultimately the best for us.

I never thought of persistence as a virtue, but I see what you mean. If we be persistent in prayer and quiet ourselves to listen for God’s answer, we can be healed. Great reminder. Thank you and God bless you in your ministry. ________________________________
